Rejuvenis B-12 Spray

BACK

More information:
80% of Vitamin B12 in plasma is in the methylcobalamin form. Methylcobalamin is the active form of B12. Sublingual B12-MC is absorbed through the mouth thus by-passing the need for the intrinsic factor in the stomach. This is especially important for the elderly as the intrinsic factor declines with age. B12 also benefits vegetarians who are often deficient due to dietary inadequacy.*

Take 1 Spray daily that dissolves under tongue.

Each spray contains:
Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) . . . . . .1000 mcg
Folic Acid . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .100 mcg

Other ingredients: Glycerin, Water

A vegetarian based culture show about 80% of the adults are deficient in vitamin B12. However, vegans are not the only ones who can become vitamin B12 deficient.

The older you get the more your digestive system breaks down, especially if you have been following the standard American diet. Specifically the lining of your stomach gradually loses its ability to produce hydrochloric acid which releases vitamin B 12 from your food. The use of antacids or anti ulcer drugs will also lower your stomach acid secretion and decrease your ability to absorb vitamin B 12.  Infection with Helicobactor pylori, a common contributor to stomach ulcers, can also result in vitamin B12 deficiency.

However the main cause of vitamin B 12 deficiency is what term researchers call food-cobalamin malabsorption syndrome.  Cobalamin is the scientific term for vitamin B12.   This typically results when your stomach lining loses its ability to produce intrinsic factor which is a protein that binds to vitamin B12 and allows your body to absorb it at the end of your small intestine.

B-12 is a water soluble vitamin with a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. It is one of the eight B vitamins. It is normally involved in the metabolism of every cell of the human body, especially affecting DNA synthesis and regulation, but also fatty acid synthesis and energy production. As the largest and most structurally complicated vitamin, it can be produced industrially only through bacterial fermentation-synthesis.

Vitamin B12 consists of a class of chemically-related compounds (vitamers), all of which have vitamin activity. It contains the biochemically rare element cobalt. Biosynthesis of the basic structure of the vitamin in nature is only accomplished by simple organisms such as some bacteria and algae, but conversion between different forms of the vitamin can be accomplished in the human body. A common synthetic form of the vitamin, cyanocobalamin, does not occur in nature, but is used in many pharmaceuticals and supplements, and as a food additive, because of its stability and lower cost. In the body it is converted to the physiological forms, methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin, leaving behind the cyanide, albeit in minimal concentration. More recently, hydroxocobalamin (a form produced by bacteria), methylcobalamin, and adenosylcobalamin can also be found in more expensive pharmacological products and food supplements. The extra utility of these is currently debated.

Vitamin B12 was discovered from its relationship to the disease pernicious anemia, which is an autoimmune disease that destroys parietal cells in the stomach that secrete intrinsic factor. Intrinsic factor is crucial for the normal absorption of B12, so a lack of intrinsic factor, as seen in pernicious anemia, causes a vitamin B12 deficiency. Many other subtler kinds of vitamin B12 deficiency and their biochemical effects have since been elucidated

About Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin. It is required for proper red

blood cell formation, neurological function, and DNA synthesis. Vitamin

B12 functions as a cofactor for the enzyme methionine synthase which

causes the conversion of homocysteine to methionine. Methionine is

required for the formation of S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), a universal

methyl donor for almost 100 different substrates, including DNA, RNA,

hormones, neurotransmitters, proteins, and lipids. Deficiency of vitamin

B12 may occur as a result of an inability to absorb B12 from food. It can

also occur in individuals with dietary patterns that exclude animal or

fortified foods.

VitaminB6 (Pyridoxal 5-Phosphate)

Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin that performs a wide variety of

functions in the body. For example, vitamin B6 is needed for more than

100 enzymes involved in protein metabolism. It is essential for red blood

cell metabolism and the nervous and immune systems need vitamin

B6 to function efficiently.* B6 is also required for the production of

hemoglobin, a protein-based component of red blood cells which is

primarily responsible for transferring oxygen from the lungs to the rest

of the body. Pyridoxal 5-Phosphate is the active form (does not require

activation by the liver) of Vitamin B6 to provide optimal utilization.

Folic Acid

Folic Acid is a B vitamin that is important for cell division and is also

needed for protein metabolism and repair of RNA and DNA.* Folic Acid

supports nerve and cardiovascular health.* Folic Acid and Vitamin B12

are needed for the formation of red blood cells to help increase

capillary blood flow. Folate is the key transferring agent in the

transmethylation process and is necessary to turn homocysteine into

methionine, which allows the body to recycle or remove homocysteine

as needed.
